ASMPT Hungary and Würth Industry Automated Solutions
ASMPT is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of electronics manufacturing and semiconductor technology. Würth Industrie has been a reliable partner of the German parent company for many years, supplying fasteners, C parts, Kanban systems, and indirect materials. Following this successful cooperation, the need arose three years ago to introduce similar automated solutions in Hungary as well.
The Beginnings
When the Hungarian production unit was launched, it employed only about 50 people; this number has since grown to 150–200, while the range of manufactured products has also significantly expanded. As a result, a new hall and production site were constructed.
Today, all series production has been relocated to Hungary, while development, prototype manufacturing, and servicing remain in Germany.
The cooperation between Würth Industry and ASMPT began with the procurement of C parts. The first step was to automate their supply and replace manual processes. This allowed the company to save both working time and costs.
Our solution was the introduction of the RFID Kanban system, the CPS®RFID, which remains one of the key components of their operational processes. CPS®RFID uses radio frequency identification to tag and monitor products and the containers holding them, regularly providing information on stock levels. As a result, replenishment happens completely automatically, without any manual intervention.

Next Phase
Two years ago, a new need emerged: optimizing the supply of indirect materials. ASMPT aimed to reduce the number of suppliers and further increase automation.
The solution was two vending machines, which managed indirect materials not directly required for production (e.g. protective equipment) and also included the related product supply and services provided by us:
- the provision and servicing of vending machines,
- procurement of Würth and non Würth products,
- refilling and inventory management,
- continuous monitoring of stock movements.
The new system made it possible for the customer to receive all necessary materials from a single source. We ensure continuous supply, so ASMPT employees no longer need to deal with inventory tracking. This resulted in significant savings in time, cost, and labor.
As the introduction and operation of the first two vending machines were successful, a third was installed later.
The Present and the Future
Today, almost every ASMPT production line operates with its own RFID Kanban system.
The machines include ORSY®mat RT rotation based vending machines for smaller items and the ORSY®mat WGT – a weighing system for higher value materials.
Access rights are managed by a smart card system that controls who can access which products.
Developments continue in close cooperation with the customer, following a jointly agreed list of priorities. Each implementation is preceded by thorough on-site assessments and tests to align perfectly with production processes.
Thanks to continuous expansion, the cooperation between ASMPT and Würth Industry has evolved into a complex, digitalized, fully automated supply system, where:
- all necessary materials come from a single supplier,
- stock movements are easily traceable,
- time, labor, and cost can be saved,
- production runs smoothly and safely.
The shared goal is clear: to develop solutions that provide maximum support for ASMPT’s production processes and allow the company to focus fully on its core tasks.
